CIPH presents Golden Leaf Award, announces return of CIPHEX West at 2021 AGM

The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIHP) held its 89th annual general meeting virtually on June 15, drawing more than 200 attendees from nine provinces. The event was a chance to reflect on the past year, while celebrating milestone awards with members.

The AGM was moderated by Andrew Dyck, acting chair of the national board of directors, who stepped in when 2020/2021 chair Gail Kaufman could not complete her tenure. Dyck was joined virtually by CIPH president and general manager Ralph Suppa and Kaufman, who reported on the many initiatives tackled by CIPH in the past year, including government advocacy on energy-efficient retrofits and funding for skilled trades; a national certification program that will soon be launched virtually; and the CIPH job board, which was introduced in April. Kaufman noted that many of the virtual tools developed during the pandemic will continue to be used at live events to help members stay engaged.

The board later formally announced that CIPHEX West 2021 will take place in person November 3 and 4 at the Pacific Coliseum of the PNE in Vancouver, British Columbia.
